This condition is also known as onychomycosis, and often occurs as a result of nail trauma, be it through a single blow or through repetitive trauma such as running, high heels or restrictive footwear.
This common condition is caused by dermatophytes/spores getting into the nail, upon which it feeds, leading to discolouration and thickening of the nail plate. The nails are often difficult to cut and unsightly. If the onychomycosis is not treated quickly or efficiently the nail bed may become permanently damaged and the infection may spread to other toenails.
Dermatophytes cause athlete’s foot, or tinea pedis, which affects about 15% of the population. The prevalence rises to 25% or more in sportsmen and women who regularly use communal bathing facilities and changing rooms. People with low immunity and diabetes are also more susceptible.
Fungal nail infections can be treated using the state of the art Lunula Laser.
Verrucae, which are caused by the human papilloma virus, are generally painless and protrude above the level of the skin unless they occur on weight-bearing surfaces such as the sole of the foot. It is the weight-bearing onto the verruca that causes the pain. Mosaic verrucae appear as a mass of multiple, small and closely packed warts and, again, depending on the location, can be both painful and cosmetically distressing.
Generally children are the ones to suffer due primarily to the amount of time they are exposed to the virus. Also those using communal changing rooms and/or those freshly exposed to the virus, and the immunosuppressed are all susceptible.
Verrucae can be treated using the state of the art Fotona Nd:YAG Laser.
"When I first visited Andrew it was difficult for him to disguise his dismay at the sight of my left foot. However after careful discussion and Andrew making me aware of the pain and discomfort I would possibly experience plus awareness the treatment might not work, we agreed to have a go at the laser treatment. Yes there was some pain, especially when a large blister formed when I put too much pressure on my foot by cutting the grass, but I am absolutely delighted with the result. Three treatments. Completely clear of those antisocial verrucas. Thank you Andrew.

"Just a quick email to say how pleased I am with the results of the laser treatment on my persistent verrucas. The results are fantastic after just one treatment - the skin has healed perfectly and you can barely see where the warts once were.
Hoping the two remaining will be cleared up completely in the follow up laser treatment. Thanks for the professional treatment and friendly advice given throughout."

"After a number of various unsuccessful conventional treatments to remove three verrucae, I contacted Andrew after hearing about his laser treatment methods. I was delighted by the results. I underwent five laser treatments, three of which I had a local anaesthetic. The two smaller ones went quickly but the largest was more stubborn!
Andrew's friendly, professional and competent manner put me at ease at all times and whilst I 'toughed out' some of the treatments without local anaesthetic, I was very happy indeed with the care and attention I received and, best of all, with the final results."
